I read a quote, which goes:
"When I live out discipline, I am admired by others. But when I live out passion, I am contagious and infectious to others!"
The question hits us, which do we want to be? Are we of the mindset that we only want other people to admire us for trying to live as Christ would have us and think well of us knowing inside they hold us in high esteem and we would be considered as worthy.
Or do we want to be infectious to others simply because our love for the Father is so plain to see and yet so simple to explain to those we come into contact with and not even thinking of how our standing is with them?
I truly hope and pray that I can be seen as a contagious and infectious person trying to let people see that I love a huge and awesome and powerful Father, who in return loves me more than I can imagine. The good thing is, the thing that has infected me and made me contagious is something that the world is crying out for in desperation ~ the love of the Father.
I often think of Paul before and after. In Acts 7 and 8, Paul was there whilst they stoned Stephen and gave his approval to his fellow men who were looking on and hanging on his every word and nod. And then going on, he worked to destroy the church and his admiration from others only grew.
However, if we look at his letters after his conversion, you only have to dwell on the words he uses to know he speaks of the essence of pure love and is now living out passion and has become infectious and contagious to many others. In Romans 13:14, he tells us to clothe ourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ. This sounds to me like someone who is living out passion to it’s fullest.
We all know that in Corinthians he tells what love is and how important it is when compared against everything else. Again in 2 Corinthians 4: 18, he tells us to fix our eyes on not what is seen but rather what is unseen because what is seen is temporary but what is unseen is eternal. Yet again, this is living out passion and relishing the love of the Father being poured into his life as a result.
I believe this question is begging to be answered by us both personally as well as together as a family and church so let us live out passion just like Paul and take heart knowing we can soak in the Father's love to come.
I am looking forward to being called infectious and contagious with all of my Southlands family.
